Can I somehow num my ear if I get an Industrial Piercing?

I dont know if I can do this. I really want the piercing but I'm a chicken and am most likely needle phobic. Just curious if I could do something so I dont feel the needle go in me. Although I thought someone told me it wouldn't bleed right if I did. So just curious. :P Thanks! :)
