Gfruit tree help?

my gfruit tree is potted, about 3 feet high, in a large pot, on a iron mesh table on the patio. this last week there was company in town and it got warm fast. my gfruit tree is very wilted and all its leave are brownish. the trunk looks good still. I'm wondering should I prune it down to basically the main trunk and limbs to help bring it back? the bonsai gfruit tree, under the same conditions, but a smaller pot, looks great, with new leaves. how can I help the big tree?
