Will rebuilding a carburetor increase fuel economy?

I have a 1979 Ford Bronco and I am looking for any way to possibly increase the fuel economy. Will rebuilding the carburetor have any effect on MPG, and how long would it take to do? What are some other ways to increase the fuel economy? And yes, I know it's probably impossible to increase MPG on a 1979 Ford Bronco, but I'm just trying to find out if there is any way that I can. Thanks.
